July 2010-Evan Sussman Elected To Board of the Beverly Hills Bar Association

The Beverly Hills Bar Association announced that Evan T. Sussman has been elected to join its Board of Governors. Mr. Sussman will be joining LaVonne Lawson, Richard D. Kaplan, Elizabeth Moreno, Susan Rabin, Irena Raskin, Caroline Raufi, and Francis Ryu, who were also elected to serve two-year terms.

The Beverly Hills Bar Association (www.bhba.org) was founded in 1931 and is one of the oldest and largest bar associations in California.

"I am honored to be joining the Board of the BHBA," said Sussman. "It has long been one of the most important and influential organizations serving the legal community in Southern California. I look forward to working with Executive Director Marc R. Staenberg, President-Elect Stephen L. Raucher, and other members of the Board and staff to continue to strengthen the Beverly Hills Bar."

June 2010-Client of Sussman & Associates Prevails At Trial
Our client, who has owned a business for more than 25 years, was married for less than five years. Before he got married, he spent his own funds to install a pool and make other improvements to the house that he occupied with his wife. The marriage lasted less than five years. After a six-day trial in Los Angeles Superior Court, the judge ruled that our client was entitled to be reimbursed for more than $150,000, and denied the wife's request for reimbursement. The wife's claim that she had an interest in our client's business was also denied. Evan Sussman was the lead trial lawyer. Ellen Johnson was the second chair. September 16, 2009 -- Evan Sussman Takes The Helm of the Family Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association
On September 15, Evan Sussman began his term as the Chair of the Family Law Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. Close to 200 attorneys gathered at The Beverly Hills Hotel to attend a program that featured The Honorable Marjorie S. Steinberg, Supervising Judge of the Family Court in Los Angeles. Mr. Sussman thanked his predecessor Felicia R. Meyers, and presented her with a plaque, honoring her enormous contributions to the Family Law Section.

August 2009 -- Evan Sussman Interviewed on Canada AM About Michael Jackson Custody Case
On Monday, August 3, Michael Jackson’s 79-year old mother, Katherine Jackson, was awarded custody of her three grandchildren.  The decision to grant Mrs. Jackson custody was made by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff.  The following morning Canada AM, the most popular morning television news program in Canada, interviewed Mr. Sussman about the custody decision.

April 2009 --Evan Sussman Interviewed In Australian Newspapers Re: Mel Gibson Divorce

Mel Gibson's wife, Robyn Moore, filed for divorce on April 19.  Five days later, Evan Sussman was interviewed by two Australian newspapers, the Herald Sun, Australia's largest selling daily, and  the Courier Mail, which is based in Brisbane.

The focus of both articles was the array of real estate owned by Mel Gibson and his soon-to-be-ex-wife.
The Courier Mail article is entitled " Mel Gibson's ex Robyn Moore is worth $28 million " and The Herald Sun article is entitled " Oksana playing for keeps as Mel's wife sits on hot property."
